I have set up ntp on my 6509's and they are retrieving time from the atomic clocks on the internet. I am now tring to synchronize one of my 4000's from the 6509's, but it won't update. the config is as follows:
ntp source Vlan248
ntp server 10.235.251.202
ntp server 10.235.251.201
The associations are as follows:
address ref clock st when poll reach delay offset disp
~10.235.251.202 0.0.0.0 16 - 64 0 0.0 0.00 16000.
~10.235.251.201 0.0.0.0 16 - 64 0 0.0 0.00 16000.
* master (synced), # master (unsynced), + selected, - candidate, ~ configured
What am I missing?
Thanks!!

If you're 6509 must act as a ntp-server, you must add the command ntp master

The 6509 is Cat OS based and there is no command for ntp master. See the following response to my query from the 6509:
set ntp ?
authentication Enable/disable NTP authentication
broadcastclient Enable/disable NTP Broadcast client
broadcastdelay Set NTP broadcast delay
client Enable/disable NTP client
key Set NTP authentication key
server Set NTP server information
summertime Set summertime
timezone Set time zone

I thought the cat6509 was running native-ios. Maybe the document below can help you out for configuring ntp on catos:

The switch is running Cat OS but the msfc is running IOS. Your post caused me to look in a new direction. I set up ntp on the msfc and set it to be master. I then changed the config in the 4000 to get the time from the msfc and it synchronized.
Thanks for your help.
