I have a Catalyst 4000 switch. I have 2 ports particular set to 100 and Full Duplex (not autonegotiate). The two devices one these ports are Windows 2000 servers.
When I do show port I notice there are FCS-ERR, XMIT-ERR and RCV- ERR errors. I also notice there are Runts. There are no collisions indicated.
I am wondering if these errors are normal??? If not what could they indicate??? How do I troubleshoot and fix???
Below is a cut and paste of what I am seeing;
Port Align-Err FCS-Err Xmit-Err Rcv-Err UnderSize
----- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------
2/5 - 1533 2 2275 0
2/6 - 544 1 1007 0
Port Single-Col Multi-Coll Late-Coll Excess-Col Carri-Sen Runts Giants
----- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- --------- -------- ---------
2/5 0 0 0 0 1 742 0
2/6 0 0 0 0 1 463 0
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Did you also configure the servers for 100/FD?
When fixing transmission parameters, you should do this on both sides of the link.

Thank you - actually I had forgotten to do that. When I did it on one of them it no longer connected and the switch showed the port in a not connect state.
I could not ping any other devices in the network. It did not get a link.
I will contiune to troubleshoot.
Thank you
