4006 vs 2950 and the art of PXE Boot. Help!!!

WS-C4006 Software, Version NmpSW: 6.3(5)

Supr engine II

4 48 port 10/100 blades.

All on vlan 1.

VTP ver 2

V2 mode enabled.

cgmp enabled.

Tried to get an XP workstation to boot from PXE server.

Server ip 10.18.7.250

DCHP pool 10.18.7.100-160

Ip gateway 10.18.1.250

Subnet for all 255.255.248.0

Cannot get the workstation to boot.

Place both connections into a 2950 out of the box with no config done to

it and the pc will boot from the PXE server.

What did I miss on the 4006

Let me know any addition info needed.

Thanks

BW

Hi,

We had this same problem and found that you must issue the command: "set port host " on all the access ports that you have these XP stations attached to.
