4232-L3, line protocol is down on router side port-channel1.2

I am trying to config a 4232-L3. Here is what I did:

router>

int gig3

no ip add

channel-group 1

int gig 4

no ip add

channel-group 1

int port-channel 1

.....

int port-channel1.1

.....

int port-channel1.2

encap dot1q 2

ip add XXXX

switch>

#port channel

set port channel 5/1-2 100

#module 5:

set vlan 2 5/10

set trunk 5/1 none dot1q 1-1005

set trunk 5/2 none dot1q 1-1005

set port channel 5/1-2 mode on

end

Refer to the last line of configureation on switch. When the port channel is confiured as " on mode", the line protocol is down for router's port-channel 1.2, but port-channel 1.1 is "up up".

If you leave the mode as off. Both port-channel 1.1 and port-channel 1.2 on the router side show "up and up".

Based on a cisco Doc, the port channel should be leave at on mode!

So, what is wrong with this config?

TIA

I just tested in the lab with your configs and did not have any issues with any port-channel sub-interfaces. I suggest that you open a TAC case or email me output of "sh tech" from both the Sup and the L3 blade

The correct way is on. Make sure you have at least one port in vlan 2 that is connected to something. If there is nothing in a vlan, it will be down. Vlan 1 is up because you have an address on sc0 that defaults to vlan 1

Thanks for the help. After connecting at least one port in a vlan, I got UP/UP......
