We just got a Cisco 4507 Cat. Since I couldn't get enough to replace my HP 4108gl switches I will be using the Cisco as the head switch. We have been a flat network and now are going to vlan's. I have two questions I need help on.
1. How do I get the Cisco and HP to pass the Vlan information so, say vlan 3 on one can talk to vlan 3 on the other?
2. How would bond the 3-1gig ports coming in from the HP's to make a 3gig backbone between the switches?
Any help on the Cisco side would be much appreciated.
I think I have the port bonding issues resolved. My problem is I still have not gotten the vlan's to talk to one another from Cisco to HP.
You said something about using LACP on the port but I was wondering about GVRP. The HP uses GVRP between them. I found some info in the cisco tech doc's about turning it on but I guess the 4507r switch I have does not support it. Any more support you can give me on vlan's between the Cisco and HP would be great.
My deadline is getting near and I'll have to call cisco support in the next day or so if I can't figure it out.
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
