4500 Flash Upgrade failure

Trying to upgrade flash in a 4500 router (not the 'M'). Installing kit MEM-4500M-16F (two 8MB SIMMs) which, from what I gather, is appropriate for both the 4500 and 4500M routers. xboot SIMM is in flash slot 1, is 4MB, and left alone. Instaling the flash in the other two available slots results in the following message on boot:

% Invalid chip id 0x89A0 detected in System flash.

Setting System flash access to READ-ONLY.

Have tried different kits, same result.

Any insight?

TIA

Take a look at this link.

I dont think you can use 2 8Mb simms on your 4500. You can do that in 4500-M.
