4500 management int

it was stated that we can have 3 options in creating management interface;

1. loopback interface

2. conf int as l3

3. conf int as part of vlan

with the options 2 and 3, how will the interface be UP if i dont have any connections to the physical interface itself?

Hi,

For 2. it wil be a routed port and without any connection it will be down.

3. The L3 SVI will not come UP untill you have the ports connected in the respective L2 vlan.

So the interface status will not come up without the physical connection.
