4500 Spurious Memory Error

This morning I received the following message on my Syslog:

"1412: Mar 26 06:10:26: %ALIGN-3-SPURIOUS: Spurious memory access made at 0x604294B0 reading 0x1C"

Performing a "Show Alignment" I receive the following:

------------------------------------

Alignment data for:

4500 Software (C4500-IS-M), Version 11.2(16)P, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

Compiled Mon 19-Oct-98 13:04 by pwade

No alignment data has been recorded.

Total Spurious Accesses 3480, Recorded 2

Address Count Traceback

1C 1740 0x604294B0 0x60428978 0x603FEAEC 0x60403288

18 1740 0x604294E4 0x60428978 0x603FEAEC 0x60403288

----------------------------------

If this is usually concidered a bug as something trying to access the lower portions of memory, should I upgrade the IOS (it is old - but reliable), or can I concider it a null point as it doesn't seam to be effecting anything?

Re: 4500 Spurious Memory Error

I don't see any bugs related to this

problem (it looks like it is due to

an SNMP query for FR), so it's hard

to say if it's serious or not. I would

suggest you not worry about it, but

if you do start to suspect it to be

service impacting you should upgrade.
