Remote Analog line user with 56K modem.

Dial into Cisco Router with Digital Modem card and ISDN BRI.

Will this allow the 56K access for the remote user?

What is the lowest model of Cisco Router that allows Digital Modem card?

Thanks,

Bob

You need to have cisco 3600 series router with digital modem cards for to allow analog calls over bri line to get 56K (V.90) access.

Here is the sample config for that

The 3640 works very well, BUT you cannot use the BRI WIC with the digital modems. You have to use a BRI or PRI card. Also you need to upgrade the modem firmware to around "mica.modem.2.9.4.0" to support 56k. The fastest I have ever connected though is just over 50k.

You may want to look into the 2600 routers as I recall reading something about them supporting DM's.

Just to clarify,

you don't need to have mica modems with 2.9.4.0 firmware to support 56K/V.90. Firmware 2.9.4.0 is for V.92 support which also support V.90.

So if you don't need V.92 support and just need V.90, you can use mica modem firmware 2.5.1.0 and above. Pl. visit following link for that

http://www.cisco.com/pcgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/mica

For V.90 support, 2.7.4.0 is the recommended firmware for mica.

Also 2600 series routers will not support Digital modems (DMs)
