I have one 6509 (core L3 router) switch with sup2/msfc2 running 12.1(13)E11 connected to two 6513's running catos 8.1(3).
We recently change the management vlan ip addresses on all three switches. The 6509 and one of the 6513's operates normally, but one of the 6513's seems to lose arp entries for our management stations. Which causes us to lose the ability to telnet to this switch. We can telnet to the core 6509 and then to the 6513. And if we ping our workstations from the suspect 6513 we then can telnet directly to it. But if we disconnect from the 6513 and wait a few minutes, we again lose connectivity.
Has anyone experienced this issue??
Thanks

You need to give us some IP address info, SC0 address and default route info to think through this.

And can you check ARP aging timer? (ah arp)
12-12-2003 07:18 AM
The arp aging timer is set to 1200 sec
cam timer set to 300 sec
IP info follows:
original
6509 - 10.10.97.1/24 - vlan 97
6513a - 10.10.97.3/24 - sc0 gateway - 10.10.97.1
6513b - 10.10.97.4/24 - sc0 gateway - 10.10.97.1
new
6509 - 10.10.0.1/24 - vlan 10 (vlan97 deleted)
6513a - 10.10.0.16/24 - sc0 gateway - 10.10.0.1
6513b - 10.10.0.17/24 - sc0 gateway - 10.10.0.1
Doing a trace on sc0 on the suspect switch (6513b) shows that it does not see any arp broadcasts when we
try to ping the device from our workstations. We can see the broadcasts if we span the trunk port on 6513b but we don't see it on sc0. When we connect a workstation to a port on the 6513b switch and configure it for vlan 10 and span that port, we also don't see any arp broadcasts when doing a trace.
Thanks.

Do a show config on the 6513 not working and what does it show for sc0's vlan?
