6500 Card problem

We have tried to install a WS-X6724-SFP and it don’t work I get this in the log

%DIAG-SP-6-RUN_MINIMUM: Module 10: Running Minimum Diagnostics...

%DIAG-SP-3-MAJOR: Module 10: Online Diagnostics detected a Major Error. Please use 'show diagnostic result <target>' to see test results.

%OIR-SP-3-LC_FAILURE: Module 10 has Major online diagnostic failure, Card will be powered down. Please check bootflash diaginfo file for detailed diagnostic result.

%C6KPWR-SP-4-DISABLED: power to module in slot 10 set off (Diagnostic Failure)

We have already one Card installed in the switch and it is working fine the only thing that are different with this new card is the HW version in the old one it’s 2.0 and in the new it’s 2.3 do I need to upgrade the switch? (I have tested with two new cards)

Mod MAC addresses Hw Fw Sw Status

9 000f.2429.0244 to 000f.2429.025b 2.0 12.2(14r)S5 12.2(17b)SXA Ok

Re: 6500 Card problem

I would think you need to RMA the card. A major error detected by online diagnostics often relates to faulty hardware.

What does the "show diagnostic result 10" comand give you? This could give a further hint about what the switch is complaining.

Hope this helps! Please rate all posts.

Re: 6500 Card problem

Sounds like a module failure, which needs to be returned to Cisco. However depending on your Supervisor Module type it may not be supported in Slot 10. I know there are limitations on certain modules slot location when using a Sup720.

Re: 6500 Card problem

Please contact the TAC, the module is supported on slot 10 of 7613 and 6513, further troubleshooting is required.
