6500 Port trusting when QOS is not enabled

In a 6500, when QOS is enabled and a port is NOT trusted any TOS, COS markings are set to the default value and the default of that default is 0. What happens when QOS is not enabled on the 6500. Are these marking reset to 0 or passed along unchanged?

With QoS disabled all markings, be it layer-2 or layer-3 are untouched and passed. Obviously no QoS is applied to anything though; a packet with IP precedence 5 (or CoS or DSCP) will get exactly the same treatment as one with IP precedence 0.
