6500 sup720 flash options

I would like to know if there are any guidelines as to preference for loading system images. i.e. sup-bootflash: bootflash: disk0:. What is the difference between the sup-bootflash and bootflash.

Re: 6500 sup720 flash options

Hi

If running in Native mode the console session is done through the MSFC (RP). Because of this bootflash: is the MSFC's (RP) own bootflash:, and sup-bootflash: is the bootflash: of the supervisor (SP).

When the switch is rebooted and starts to load the supervisor boots up before the MSFC, and is not able to see the (RP) bootflash:. For this reason the native IOS image should be stored in sup-bootflash: or on sup-slot0:

Regards

Martin
