Hi,

I have a few Windows Servers running MS NLB clustering, how do i configure the virtual IP and the mac address used by the cluster on the Cat 6500? The core is running MLS, will that disable the MLS?

cheers!

If you can assign a multicast mac address to the virtual IP, what you can do is

a) Configure a static ARP entry on the default router. Example: "arp 1.1.1.1 0100.4444.5555"

If you assign a multicast MAC address to a unicast IP, you must configure a static ARP entry for it on the router.

b) Then configure a static multicast MAC entry on the switch. Example " set cam permanent 01-00-44-44-55-55 3/1,3/4,3/6"

Doing this will not disable MLS. Actually i'm not even sure its even possible to disable mls no matter what you end up doing.
