I am going to design a LAN backbone for customer. We are going to deploy one Cat6509 as backbone switch, every floor has 4 Cat3524 Gigastack switch stacked. We want the first and last Gigastackable switch coneect to 6509's ports on different module by their one 1000-X(MM)Gigaports. And also we want the two ports on 6509 to be as FEC, is it possible?
Thanks

Doesn't sound like it should be a problem though I'm not sure about FEC , it used to be you had to group consecutive ports to enable FEC such as port 4/3,4/4,4/5,4/6 etc .

Hi, I think the same is possible cos, as a result of the GIga Stack the four switches logically form one switch, there after the only requirement for forming a EtherChannel is that the ports in the channel should all be identical..Pls do revert if you test it out.

I am not sure that this will work. but do let us know if it works. I have never tried this way and not sure about recommendation of such design. I would assume that you would test the various failure scenarios.
