We have a few 4006's laying around with spare blades in them and I was wondering if we can put those blades in to a 6509? These are the 48 port blade and a 6G blade. Thank you!

Hi,
Cat4000 blades are not compatible with Cat6000 chassis and vice versa. If you tried to insert one in the other, you'd find that the blades are keyed to prevent insertion in the wrong type of chassis.

Hi Friend,
Chassis, Supervisors and Blades are not at all interchaneable.
No blades of 4k can be inserted into 6k and vice versa.
Just have a look at this link
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat4000/relnotes/ol_4502.htm
This contains the blades for 4k switch which can be only used in cat4k chassis
The link below has the details of the line cards which can be only used with cat6k chassis

HTH, if yes please rate the post.
