6509 connected to 3640 seeing multiple Collisions

The connection between the 6509 and the 3640 are both set to 10/half but we are seeing about 80 percent Collisions on the Ethernet interface . Bandwidth appears to be using about half on the link.

What else would cause an issue like this? This seems to be really slowing down all network app's.

Some collisions on a 10/half link is normal, 80% is definetely way above the acceptable thereshold. Do you see any errors of the 6500 switchport? Try changing cable and/or changing to another ethernet port on the router. Also the following pages on CCO should help
