I'm assuming 1/1 and 2/1 go to another switch/router. What channel mode are you using?

enter "show port capab" to see if each port you want to channel can do it. The enter "sho chan gr" to see how the channels can be formed. By default it is only on the same card. you will probably have to enter "set port channel 1/1,2/1" to form a channel group across the cards. then it may come up if the other side is negotiating or you can force it up by configuring both sides "on". On the 6509 its done with "set port channel 1/2 mode on and "set port channel 2/1 mode on.
