6509 ios upload

Hi,

I have a 6509 switch.I'm trying to upgrade the ios , it does load the ios from tftp server but doen't show up in the sh version.Now where can i see that the new ios is loaded and how can i boot using the new ios.Can someone help.

Switch cannot directly load the IOS from TFTP server. You will need to copy the file to onboard bootflash or compact flash and change the boot variables to point to the new file and reload. The following tech tip should help

If I have messed up completely , is there a way I could delete everything and load again.

I just need to load this into my 6509 :
