6509 ROMMON Upgrade

I am upgrading the ROMMON in some 6509's with Sup720/MSFC3 running Native Mode.

Does anyone know if the same code [12.2(14r)S9] should loaded in the SP and RP, or are there 2 different codes?

Does anyone know why 12.2(14r)S9 is still the "recommended version", when 12.2(17r)S2 is the latest version?

I believe those two are different codes because they both used for different purposes. And according to my idea, Cisco suggests the stable versions as recommended and 12.2(17r)S2 may not so stable than previous.
