How can I verfiy the Resources connected to my 6509 LAN Ports.
I have recently taken over support of the Switch, the "sho port " command displays incorrect information ( Resources no longer active ) and the cables attached to the Switch ports are labeled incorrectly.

The 6509 in question supports multiple Servers and IDF-Closet mounted 3548 Switches on Modules 2 through 4.
Mod 2 1000BaseSX , Mod 3 10/100BaseTX , Mod 4 1000BaseSX.

Verification of devices on your catalyst switch can be done in several ways. here's one.
On the supervisor to the following:(Assuming you are running CatOS vise native IOS)
show cam dynamic
This will show you the layer 2 MAC entries for each of your ports. Save these.
For each port you want to verify go you your router that handles routing directly for these Catalyst connected hosts (eigher MSFC on this cat or connected router).
sh ip arp
Keep in mind that the format from Show cam is different than what is needed for this show ip arp command... You'll need to modify the MACs.
This will give you the devices IP address. From this you should be able to get hostname from DNS / nbtstat -A (ip) / or other method to update the names on your ports.
Hope this helps you,
Don
