6509 vs 6513

Sup 720’s in the 6513 go in slot 7&8 and for the 6509 go in slot 5&6. Does the 6509 have dual channel fabric for all slots or only 7,8,9? Where as the 6513 only has dual channel fabric in slots 9-13?

Re: 6509 vs 6513

Hi,

As far as I know You need to put sup720 in the middle slots, that is 5&6 for 6509, becouse it makes the switched fabic (256 gbps and 100 mpps )bus availabe for all modules. There are three kinds of modules:

- non switched fabric enables modules, they are using only standard bus (32 gbps) to communicate,

- 1rst Generataion Switched fabric, one connection to bus and one to switched fabric bus,

- 2nd Generation Switched fabric, two connections to switched fabric bus.

Supervisor is connected to both standard bus and switched fabric bus. Communication between non-fabric enabled modules and 2nd generation is only available through the supervisor engine.

Read this, it should clearify the doubts:
