6509 with flexwan --> OS ?

hi ~

i have 1 of WS-X6K-S2-MSFC2.

i want to use WS-C6509 and WS-X6182-2PA module.

my problem now is what OS that i able to use ?

can i use CatOS on 6509 switch ? so the router will become 1 switch function and 1 router function.

or else i must use native IOS 12.X so the router will central control by 1 configuration ?

thanks,

Your software compatibility options can be found in the Release notes:

For Hybrid (CatOS on Sup, IOS on MSFC)

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat6000/relnotes/ol_4498.htm

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat6000/relnotes/ol_2309.htm

Recommended by the docs is sup2/mfc2 + Flexwan => 6.3.7 on sup, 12.1.13E9 on msfc. But, you should read the caveats in the release notes and decide for yourself which version (as long as it meets min. req.) you will run.

For Native Mode (IOS On Sup+MSFC)

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat6000/12_1e/ol_2310.htm

The release notes recommend 12.1.13E9. Same suggestion here is to review the caveats and minimum requirements before you decide on a version.

Whether you choose to run Hybrid or Native mode is up to you. It will depend on other features and hardware you are interested in running - again see the release notes. With the information you have provided you can go with either with the above versions.
