Ideally we do not need a modemcap for the NM-AMs so should not have that command in.

The default modemcap microcom_mimic should be fine.

Thanks, Makarand.

Internal Analog modems do not need any modemcap..Default is fine unless you want to tweak the modem settings according to application layer requirement..Tejal

hi,

i dont want to do do any thing with the MODEMCAP instead i just want to know

what should i put in the line configuration mode as a modem type.

according to my knowledge there are two related commands

1)Modem autoconfigure discovery

2)Modem autocinfigure type discovery

but for the discovery router initialise the modems though it works but i need to

know the exact modem type so that if u i have any doubt about any thing then

i'll be sure that there i s nothing wrong with my modem configurations

on my router the when i issue the SHOW MODEMCAP it shows me the following modems names.

cisco3640#sh ver | inc c3640

System image file is "flash:c3640-i-mz.121-1.T"

NM-AM default modemcap is microcom_mimic.....just to confirm the same:

1)Execute "sh line x"....will show "modem type is unknown"

2)Under line x add "modem autoconf discovery"...now execute "sh line x"

Will see "Modem type is microcom_mimic"

Thanks, Makarand.
