I have couple 2501 routers (10mbps ethernet) I would like to configure for vlan routing. However, because the ethenet interface is only 10mbps the option is not available. Do you know if Cisco has an IOS that will allow me to use the 10 mbps interface for vlan configuration?
Thanks for the help

VLAN Trunking to a router (dot1q or ISL) is only supported on FastEthernet (100 Mbps)...sorry...
I have never seen it work on 10 Mbps Ethernet on any router...

we will not implement vlan on 10 Mbps networks. Trunk ports should be 100 Mbps.
2501 is having ethernet interface. it support one way communication ( half duplex). it support for single vlan i.e default vlan 1. we can't create sub interfaces beacuse of one way communication.
if it is fast ethernet i.e two way communication ( full duplex) we can create multiple two way communication logical paths for each and every vlan to pass information on it.
router and switch should support 100Mbps to implement vlan infrastructre.
262x,3600 routers and 2900 or 1900 trunk ports on the switch
