802.1q support on 2610 router built-in eth interface

I read in an official Cisco document that support for 802.1q on built-in ethernet interfaces on routers was enabled for recent IOS versions. I installed an recent IOS version and still giving me a hard time. Any ideas?

I attached the document.

According to that doc, you are right. However, can you include the show version and the kind of problem you are encountering? Capture what you are doing so we can understand what kind of issue you are facing.

the ping is responding ok but the network services are pretty slow, here is the show version output:

Check the ports for errors, drops, etc. But this sounds like an oversubscription issue, you know big pipe to smaller pipe >> 100 Mbps to 10 Mbps and the 10 Mbps is shared among multiple vlans.

should i force the switch interface to 10Mbps half-duplex?

If the switch and the router don't agree on speed and duplex (looking at show int e0/0, etc), it's safe to say that that would probably result in poor performance [GRIN].

I would definitely try hard-setting both ends to 10mbit full and 10mbit half and see what happens.

Before I'd change anything, I'd look at the show interface eth0/0 information on the router, and the same on the switch, and see if they agree on duplex and speed, if only to know _before_ the change what was going on, on each end of the link.

Then, I'd try hard-setting both sides to 10mbit full duplex, and try that for a bit. Then, if the problem doesn't go away, try both sides, 10mbit half duplex.

If the problem still persists, I'd swap the ethernet cable out for another one and see if that made any difference.
