802.1w (RSTP) on a 6509

Can someone point me to a good document on configuring RSTP on a 6500? Also, what software version do I need to support this?

Thanks,

Pat

we would support per-vlan RSTP in 7.4.x in CatOS currently 802.1W is supported for 802.1s (MST). PVRSTP is planned for Integrated Cisco IOS as well in later versions.

When is PVRSTP expected in IOS?

Re: 802.1w (RSTP) on a 6509

The availability of RSTP was first implemented as part of Multiple Spanning-Tree Protocol (MSTP) in CatOS 7.1 and Native IOS 12.1(11)EX and later. It will be available as a standalone protocol with the Rapid-Per-VLAN-Spanning-Tree (Rapid-PVST) mode in IOS 12.1(13)E and in CatOS 7.4. Under this mode, the switch runs an RSTP instance on each VLAN, following the usual PVST+ Cisco approach.
