802.1x and trunk ports

Hi,

Anyone sussed a way how to use 802.1X on a port configured as a trunk? I know it is not allowed in IOS but anyone got any workarounds? I am using a non Cisco VoIP soluion that requires me a to configure the ports as a trunk so that the voice can go into a specified tagged VLAN and the data from the attatched PC gets dropped into the untagged or native VLAN on the switch. The problem with this is that you cannot activate dot1x !!!

Cisco get round this since they speak CDP to their IP phones on the voice vlan - their is no "trunk command as such.

Any suggestions guys?

Regards,

Steve

Re: 802.1x and trunk ports

Yes, It is not allowed to enable 802.1x authenication on trunk port in Cisco IOS. So, I hope at present the only solution is to disable trunking mechanism to enable 802.1x authentication.
