802.1X user aunthentication

HI,

I'm trying this question here, because it's a "switching" related forum, but it can also be posted to the wireless one.

The question is: If I use 802.1X authentication on a switch (lets say a 2950T-24), then: Can I have many users per port? Whats does 802.1X authentication do: enables a port or enables a MAC address to send traffic to the network? This question is done thinking in that I may have an access point connected to one port and I'd like to use 802.1X to authenticate wireless clients.

Thanks for your reply,

chabral

It authorizes the port. The access point must secure the wireless lan.
