About 6506 and 5509 for HSRP core

Hi,I have a 6506 and a 5509.I want to use them to build the hsrp core. How about the network architecture built with different switches? Could you give me some good advice?Thanks

There is no problem using either one but you have to look at your traffic patterns and make sure the 5509 can handle the traffic you want it to handle . Also the 5509's are EOL so getting any kind of support on them will not be possible . We don't use the 5509 as core in our network but do use them as dist. boxes and they have worked great in that capacity . We have never seen one get very busy and they handled the traffic great thru the years except when the infamous slammer hit and that really choked them but then again that virus choked just about everything . Also if you are using the 5509 I would get the most up to date IOS if you can get if you have an RSM and catos for the layer 2 side that your cards will handle
