About DHCP Sever.

We are useing Dhcp server Linux base.

But we don't receive from Dhcp server somtimes.

C:\>ipconfig /renew

Windows IP Configuration

Ethernet adapter 로컬 영역 연결:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :

IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 0.0.0.0

Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 0.0.0.0

Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 0.0.0.0

I maked an attempt serveral by "ipconfig /renew" but I didn't response from Dhcp server.

So, I tried PC rebooting finally then I recived IP address from Dhcp server.

I don't know what problem is.

I often experience this things.

So, I checked up my Dchcp server but I'm not found some problems.

I useing Fedora core Linux Program on Dhcp server.

anyone know this problem ?

below is a simple network diagram.

PC--> HUB --> Access switch ---> Backbone Switch ---> DHCP Server.

We're useing Nortel BPS 2000 for access switch and Backbone switch is Extrem.

Could you advise which area related to the Cisco equipment of is there any switch router betweenthe DHCP server and the client ?

We are useing Nortel BPS 2000 switch between the DHCP server and the client.

But backbone is Extrem and Access switch is Nortel.

Oops, I am familiar on Nortel & Extreme. You may need to configure the DHCP relay agent in the switch. Try to check the manual or Nortel support for details.

I am so sorry that there is typo in my message is I mean I am NOT familiar Nortel & Extreme.... You may need to consult the Extreme support. I sugges try to search around the Extreme manual for the DHCP relay agent key word for any hint. Sorry again. :(
