About Trunking.......

Hi all,

We recently conneted Cat 6509 with Cat 2950 as 802.1q trunking..

Of course, 2950 have a few vlans. and Cat 6509 has a msfc and doing routing

We tested throught and found out something.

The PC connected 2950 works well, It can ping anywhere. A PC in other Network Segment cannot connect with some PC connected 2950. (other PC is working fine.) Ping result is requested timed out. but sometimes it works well, Ping is reachable in 5 sec. this is periodical.

Welcome any possibility.....

Thanks in advance

Re: About Trunking.......

Please verify that both switches are in the same vtp domain and that they have the same amount of vlans in the database: sh vtp stat

Re: About Trunking.......

Hi

Check the used native VLAN number, should normal be 1 on both sides or changed very carefully on all domain devices

Re: About Trunking.......

Post your 2950 and your 6500 l-2 and 3 configs and we could bet a better understanding of what is going on...Without doing any troubleshooting on-site, this alnmost sounds like either a mac address conflict or a bad subnet mask...
