about VLAN principle , which confused me

I am using BVI interface on a 2948g-l3(cat2948g-in-mz.120-7.W5.15d.bin) . (e.g. bvi 48 : port 1,5,6,7,8)

I found : when attaching a pc on port 7 running Sniffer , it will capture the unicast IP packet , neither the source address nor the destination address is used by the pc running sniffer. also , SPAN is not enabled on 2948G-L3.

In another word: the device will forward any packet to all the port in the same VLAN , just like a HUB.

Why does this happen? any suggestion to me ?

thks & best regds

Re: about VLAN principle , which confused me

The condition you are describing may be due to unicast flooding.

There is a good doc on cisco.com that talks about this condition.

it is document ID 23563
