access-list logging rate-limited or missed x packets

I have just upgraded too 12.3(7) on a 3640 and am seeing "access-list logging rate-limited or missed 23 packets" in the logs fairly frequently. This is in a test enviroment without much traffic so I know the router is not heavily loaded. I never saw these messages with our older ios.

Any ideas ?

The real question is what messages is it rate-limiting and why are so many being produced after the upgrade.

But, you can use the "logging rate-limit" command to try and show you more. Use

no logging rate-limit

to disable logging rate-limiting. If this doesn't work, try setting it artificially high. Like

logging rate-limit 200

which says limit the # of log entries to be 200 per second...

Thanks for replying Craig. The log messages are mostly coming from our ACL's. The volume of message is not really that high, which is why I don't understand the packetdropping.

I tried your suggestions to no affect. The following google link pretty much describes the problem we are having : http://groups.google.com/groups?q=cisco+access-list+logging+rate-limited+or+missed++packets&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&safe=off&selm=slrnbopnte.3lc.johnSPAMcarAWAYuso%40news.sbcglobal.net&rnum=1
