Access Lists for the 6509 & 3500 switches

I'm fairly new to the Cisco line of products, but I've started training to eventually become a CCIE. My network at work has just been upgraded to all Cisco equipment, with a 6509 at the core & 3500 switches at the closets. I need to set up a vlan for just internet access & file tranfers, & would like to use an access list to do it. My vlan is setup, but I'm having trouble getting the access list to work. I've been reading about them, but I'm not quite sure how to put it together. Any info on this would greatly appreciated.

Re: Access Lists for the 6509 & 3500 switches

If you search on CCO you'll find tons of information on Access-lists. Here is one

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/software/ios120/12cgcr/secur_c/scprt3/scacls.htm

If you have an MSFC/MSM in your cat 6500 you can configure IOS access-lists. The 3500xls are layer 2 switches only and you cannot configure any ACLs on them
