Adding Catalyst 2900 to the software library.

Hi,

I'm trying to add the image of a Catalyst 2900 to the software library, but I get the following message : "Image import operation not supported". I can put a new image in the device but I can't retreive it. Is this normal ?

Thanks !

For Cat2900XL switches, here what the RME 3.4 Supported Device List says: http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/rtrmgmt/cw2000/cw2000e/e_3_x/3_4/dev_sup/e3_4.htm#92132

"Software Management: Image library import from device, baseline, and synchronize not supported."

Re: Adding Catalyst 2900 to the software library.

Yes,

it's normal. The reason is following:

The original image file is .tar formatted. When you load it to the switch it is "untarred" into a directory structure. But Ciscoworks support only one-file images.

So you are not able to upload the complete directory structure to CW server neither to "tar" it back.

But you are still able to download the .tar image file from CCO to your image library.

There is a similar situation with .ADP files for CatOS browser access to Cat4000s. They alse are not supported by CW.
