Adding IP to Catalyst 3535

I have tried adding an IP to my Catalyst 3535 by add this:

interface Vlan1

ip address 192.168.5.5 255.255.255.0

then

no shut down

But I can't ping it, do I have to have a network cable into a specific port

Do a show ip int brie and make sure VLAN shows up.

Make sure your pc has a network address in the same range as the switch.

Port should not matter unless you changed the vlan of the ports, if that's the case make sure you plug into one that is in VLAN1.

Hi there

The only things i think it may be are

check what vlan your plugged into, put an ip default gateway on the switch if your on a different lan, nake sure your pc is on the same subnet !!
