ADSL and DDR connection

Hi,

is it possible to have the following configuration for remote side:

remote router(A) has a adsl connection to central site's router cisco 3745, also, remote router (A) has a isdn bri conection to a cisco 7000 for a DDR connection.

The DDR connection will then be a remote side initiated call so that when the adsl connection fails, the isdn bri will take over.

Appreciate if anyone could advise me on that.

many thanks.

Re: ADSL and DDR connection

You can configure the BRI to be the backup interface for the ATM (ADSL) interface. Then define a static (default) route towards the BRI, and a floating static (with a higher administrative distance) to the ATM.

Since the BRI will be in standby state as long as the ATM is up, the main static route will not be available so the ATM route will be used.

E.g. something like this:

interface ATM x

backup interface BRI y

backup delay n n

etc.

ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 BRI y

ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 ATM x 5
