Does anybody know if it is possible to use a 2509 router as a ADSL router instead of a 677-i Router?

No..2500 series router will not support DSL line termination..You need to use 2600 with ADSL WIC card in it..Thx..Tejal

To clarify: What the consumer market these days is calling an "ADSL router" doesn't need to speak ADSL at all. Those boxes (often marketed as "DSL/cable routers") use an existing ADSL "modem" to handle the line termination.
Any Cisco router should be able to connect to a DSL "modem" -- since they typically use an Ethernet port for their LAN-side interface, all you need is an Ethernet crossover cable.
*BUT* that's not always USEFUL. After all, you can connect your 2509 to an ADSL "modem", but that uses up your sole Ethernet port. It depends on what you want to do with it.
What Tejal is (quite properly) talking about is using an ADSL WIC to eliminate the "modem" device, so you can terminate your DSL line right into the router. Obviously, only routers that support the ADSL WIC can do this.
Any router with at least two Ethernet interfaces can pull off the other trick.
Does that help?
