Alert Notification sent 696! pages

I have defined Automated Action in RME that would page me if there is an error message (levels 0-4) received from any switch that we have. Last night, I got 696!!! pages within 15-20 minutes from one switch that had a bad module generating "COIL" errors for every port.

Does anyone know if there is some 3rd party software that allows you to filter messages? For example, something that can monitor sent messages, like "this message was already sent, I will resend it if it occurs again in an hour".

I appreciate any help.

Re: Alert Notification sent 696! pages

Yes, you can do this by writing a script using the Automated Action of the RME. If you do not need those messages any more, you can permanently filter the message types. If you need them and want to filter them so that you get it only at regular interval of time as you have mentioned in the query, you can do that by writing a script using the Automated Action by using the following procedure:

1.In RME, select Administration

2. Navigate to Syslog Analysis

3. Navigate to Define Automated Action

4. Add the Action name and select the message type.

5.Add it to Action Messages.

6. Browse the location where the script has to be saved.

7. Click finish .
