ANI Server - Unknown device-Cat6500

I'm running running CW2K with ANI Server Version 4.2 and when I add a 6500 (Sup1A) to the ANI server as a seed device it says the device type is 'Unknown', and as a result not discover any other attached devices. It will discover attached devices when adding a 3500, 2900, etc. but not the Sup1A. The 'C6509' does show up on the Device Support page.

Has anyone else seen this?

Re: ANI Server - Unknown device-Cat6500

Best way to see what ANI supports is to go to:

Server Configuration->About the Server->About ANI Server->Devices Supported

Verify if 6509 is there. Then check the OID listed and see if you do an SNMP poll for the ProductsId for your 6509, do you get the same thing.

What Cat OS code is the 6509 running? Please make sure the SNMP strings match and CDP is enabled.

Check if surrounding devices are able to see the 6509 as a CDP neighbor and vice versa. Also, make

these neighbors as seed devices.

hope that helps
