Anything new in policy-based network management at Cisco?

A couple years ago, everybody was touting policy-based network management, and I think Cisco had a product.

Technology was relatively primitive or at least unpolished, but it seemed

like big things were going to be happening to automate network

management activities and integrate with business priorities.

I heard that people didn't like setting all the configuration parameters associated with QoS, and policy-management was going to get

around this problem.

I don't hear much any more, and I'm wondering why the silence.

I followed this development the same way you did. To make a start with the real "policy based networking" I even purchased the CSPM (Cisco Policy Manager) last year. One year later my experience tells me the products aren't ready for the complex networks we own. I haven't been able to create a complete topology, not even speaking about the policies.

At this moment I am wondering if Cisco will even continue with the CSPM. A third party product called "Solsoft" seems to become THE product.

My conclusion: It's not as easy as is seemed !
