applying rate-limit on a cisco 2950 switch

Hi, i am trying to apply a rate-limit on a cisco2950

switch interface.although the switch is accepting the commands, the rate-limit does not register any hits.

Can anybody suggest as to whether rate-limiting works on cisco 2950 l2 switch and if it does any solutions for the above.thanks in advance.

What version of code? How do you have it configured? The 2950 supports policing on ingress - you cannot policy outbound. If ingress policing, have you verified the classification parameters and/or the egress rate (compared to the hits or no hits being registered)?

Hi, i am applying ingress rate-limiting on the switchport.

the ios version is IOS (tm) C2900XL Software (C2900XL-C3H2S-M), Version 12.0(5)WC8, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

do i have to do policing or will rate-limting will do the trick
