An arbitrary question for my own use. Are ARP and RARP part of the Data-Link layer in the OSI model? As it encompasses the MAC address (data-link layer) and the logical IP address (network layer) is it part of both layers or just one? Thanks in advance for your answers.
ARP actually is above the network layer since the MAC addresses are held in tha data portion of the frame. This why you require the bitswap-layer3-address option when bridging ip between token ring and ethernet (not that this is recommended!).
