arp vs. mac-address-table

"show arp" in router vs. "show mac-addreass-table" in switch? Are they the same?

Re: arp vs. mac-address-table

No. ARP tables are used in a layer 3 device, such as a router, to map IP addresses to MAC addresses. MAC address tables are used in lan switches to associate MAC addresses with switch ports so that it knows where to send frames destined for a particular MAC address.
