I have here an AS5200 whose AS52-CC-DM with 6DM modems just got replaced with new ones. However when the AS is powered up this is the result.

Username:

00:01:46: %MICA-5-BOARDWARE_RUNNING: Slot 1 is running boardware version 1.1.0.0

00:01:46: %MICA-5-BOARDWARE_RUNNING: Slot 2 is running boardware version 1.1.0.0

Queued messages:

00:01:51: %SYS-3-LOGGER_FLUSHING: System pausing to ensure console debugging out

put.

*** EXCEPTION ***

exception number = 195

Afterwards the AS reboots in a continous cycle.

DO you have any suggestions on what i should do here?

Thanks!

i`ve seen such messages, when command "modem inout" is missing

on some of the line interfaces which belongs to your digital modems.

(REASON: IOS is unable to copy the mica fw to the modems)

This often happens when..

1.) your modem card dies and ...,

2.) you reload the router and ...

3.) save the incomplete config with missing line interfaces to nvram and ...

4.) you reload the router again

5.) After that you replaced the faulty modem card.

6.) You reboot the access server and has the result, that your box identifies

the "new" modems",

7.) create the line interfaces but with an incomplete configuration and ..

error message of above occur, because ios is unable to download the fw to the modems :-/

What you can do ?

a) try to complete and save a proper config to nvram if possible when router comes up or ...

b) boot the router without startup-config (passw recovery procedure) and ...

configure "modem inout" on all line interfaces and ...

"no shut" necessary interfaces and ...

copy your startup-config to running-config and ...

configure back the config-register to 0x2102 and ...

reload the router hopefully for the last time

Best regards

and make sure, that your "group-range x y"- command is configured

on the Gr-Async interface(s)

Hi guys,

I'm julius i own this problem, mhave tried to do as you suggested however, this is how far i've gotten :Router#conf t

Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.

Router(config)#li 1 30

Router(config-line)#modem

Router(config-line)#modem in

Router(config-line)#modem inOut

Router(config-line)#

Router(config-line)#

Router(config-line)#^Z

Router#conf t

Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.

Router(config)#

00:01:29: %SYS-5-CONFIG_I: Configured from console by consoleint gro

Router(config)#int group-Async 1

Router(config-if)#gro

Router(config-if)#group-range 1 30

00:01:36: %MICA-5-BOARDWARE_RUNNING: Slot 0 is running boardware version 1.1.0.0

Queued messages:

00:01:41: %SYS-3-LOGGER_FLUSHING: System pausing to ensure console debugging out

put.

*** EXCEPTION ***

exception number = 195

monitor: command "boot" aborted due to exception

AS5200 platform with 8192 Kbytes of main memory

AS you can see I have placed the line "modem inOut",

however, when i try to place these lines under int

Group_Async 1, when i try to execute "group range x y" the as5200 reboots, i have raised this to TAC and

the only solution we could come up for the moment was

to send a replacement chassis, although i am still open for any suggestions you might come up with.

Thanks!
