AS5300 and absolute-timeout warning

We are running an AS5300 with multiple PRIs. We are using the Group Async 2 interface to support Windows PPP dial-in users.

I have found the "absolute-timeout" command and entered it in the Line config section of the AS5300.

Is there a way to notify users in advance - say 30 minutes before the absolute timeout value is acted upon? Is this done with the "logout warning" command? There does not seem to be anywhere to add text to this command.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Peter Cumming

The logout-warning command will cause a message to be printed - this message can't be modified.

Thanks for the reply.

This message that is printed, is it viewable on a Microsoft Operating System (like 95/98/ME/2000 or XP)?

If yes - does it use a "winpopup" type function.

If not - is there something that notifies the Windows user who is logged in that they will be disconnected in an amount of time.

Thanks again

It will show up in the terminal window (like hyperterm, etc); it will not be a pop-up window, and it will not indicate the time until disconnect. If you use the session-timeout command (which is not absolute, but an idle timer) then you can use the command "session-disconnect-warning X message" command, and this message is user configurable in which case you could indicate the amount of time left before the IDLE timeout.

If you are using a PPP connection (ie a nework connection rather than a TTY session), this message is not logged at all (the interface configuration now takes precendence over the line config commands).
