AS5800 and Win2K & XP

Hi.

Has anyone experienced problem connecting to AS5800

using W2K or XP ?

We have a vpop provided to us by a local CLEC and they use an AS5800.

The problem seems to be with IPCP negociation, from

Win XP PPP trace i can see that as soon as it sends

IPCP Configure REQ it gets a Termination REQ immidiately.

I do not have access to debug output from the NAS (allthough i'm trying to).

Anyone have seen anything like that before ?

Connecting to an AS5300 works fine however.

Thanx

Paul

Paul, have you tried disabling LCP Extensions? I have an AS5800 of my own and this is what I had to do to make it work.

In W2K go to the properties of your dial-up connection, click on the networking tab, then click settings. Be sure that the box "enable LCP extensions" IS NOT checked. Windows XP settings are located in roughly the same place.

Thanx for the tip, that was actually not LCP, but it was in the same place. "Multi-link for single link" option was the cause of it and it's enabled by default on 2K and XP. Looks like the IOS on that AS5800 didn't understand the option.

Anyone knows if it's fixed in the current IOS.

Thanx

Paul

It's not an IOS thing, it's a config thing. The 5300 was probably setup for async multilink and the 5800 probably is not. Make sure it is setup like this sample:

Shouldn't this option be negociated ?

Why would MSoft enable it by default if it would fail ?

Thanx
