Assign precedence/dscp to NMS and routing traffic

Hi,

Is it possibe to assign precedence/dscp to the SNMP and routing (OSPF) packet which is generated by its own router?

Thanks,

Cliff.

By default some packets that the router generates already have IP Precedence values set - Any routing protocol updates are sent with an IP Precedence of 6 (TOS byte 01100000), also if you telnet to or from the router these packets also have the same IP Precedence bits set. Not sure about SNMP; I'll look on a sniffer tomorrow.

Hi Andy,

Thanks you very much!

If I try to police the traffic whose IP Precedence is assigned to 6, will the router also police both the routed traffic and the routing traffic (OSPF)? I am afraid that the routing traffic is dropped by the flooding of routed traffic.

Cliff.
