Assigning a MAC or IP address to a Switch port

Is it possible to assign a single MAC or IP address to a 3548XL switch port so that machines with other MAC or IP address cannot connect to the network thro that particular port.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Assigning a MAC or IP address to a Switch port

Hello,

try this command in global configuration mode:

Switch(config)# mac-address-table secure 00c0.00a0.03fa fa1/1 vlan 6

Re: Assigning a MAC or IP address to a Switch port

Hi,

you could use mac-address-table secure command

and/or

port security command

I've not tested it personally but it should work.

To allow a single MAC address on f0/1, try this:

mac-address-table secure abcd.abcd.abcd fa0/1

interface fa0/1

port security max-mac-count 1

AFAIK it is not possible to do anything IP related on a 3500xl series switch.
